    Default Dedicated server not working on LAN

    Using the Steam gui, with the console switch the server runs fine and it can be seen in the server browser.

    The problem is when a client connects it is rejected saying it can not validate the steamID

    Any ideas?

    Also on a side note how do i create a custom config file?

    Cheers

    Is sv_lan set to 1? I assume that all people playing are on the lan.
    If it is set to 1 it really shouldn't be trying to validate anyone. However if more than 5 people try to connect with the same cd key it will fail.

    1 = LAN Server
    0 = Internet server

    If there anyway i can set that in a config file so its done automatically since the server is only ever a lan server

    Just add the "sv_lan 1" command in the server.cfg file (or listenserver.cfg if its not dedicated) and away you go.
