Thread: Random not so random.

    Default Random not so random.

    Was playing on the deadclan server with random play. Could you possibly make it so it randomly selects people and doesn't select the same person again until everyone else has had a chance to play or something?

    Some people were literally being chosen as hidden every other round, with a random person in between. Sometimes it just kept switching back and forth between the two people.

    It was really getting irritating.

    Random isn't necessarily automatically fair over the short run.

    I've got a couple of ideas on how to make it "fairer", though. I'll see what I can do.


    One thing was certain, that the white kitten had had nothing to do with it - it was the black kitten's fault entirely.

    Now, granted this isn't "perfect", but how about something that does this..

    Random selection of candidate.
    Server checks if chosen random has been Hidden in the past 6 rounds.
    If yes, choose again. If no, he spawns. If all available choices don't qualify, then it does one last random and goes with it.

    I imagine that's a lot harder to code as it requires keeping track of who has been a Hidden.. but it would be a lot more "fair".

    I'll keep thinking.
