Freeze on server-welcomescreen

Hi!

Yesterday I started playing this game again - still really great!

But I experienced the same problem I always had a few years ago: About every second server I join (or after a mapchange) my game freezes at the welcomescreen of the server (see picture). I cannot press OK or do anything else. The only way out is to kill the hl2.exe-process.
I could not find any other thread with the same problem - but maybe someone can help me with this.

I thought it could be a problem with the Internet Explorer, but different versions did not solve the problem.

Still the same problem...

The first map I enter (with a fresh started game) works fine. In most of the cases the next server or map stucks at the welcome-screen. Only in some cases it works - I cannot imagine why.

If no one has a hint how to solve this problem, is it possible to deactivate these welcome screens completely? Maybe this could help?

Hi,

I reinstalled a new Windows 7 (64 bit) and now it seems to work (some other small problems, but the above-mentioned problem is gone).

I cannot imagine, what caused the problem. I had this with 2 or 3 fresh installations of Windows 7 (32 bit). Strange.

Same problem, any other fixes aside from completely reinstalling Windows 7?

In the meantime I reinstalled a 32-bit-Windows 7 and now it works here without this problem. I do not know, what caused this problem. Sorry.
