The Hidden - Source - Technical Support

hl2.exe has stopped working PLEASE HELP!

Hey so I have been trying to get this game working for a long time and it just does not want to co-operate with me. Every time I launch the hidden it just crashes and says "hl2.exe has stopped working". I have figured out what I presume to be the source (GET IT?) however: the source is that source sdk base 2006 (now you get it) always crashes on start up. It gets through the loading screen of the dude with a valve in his eye, then it flashes the loading screen with the background, goes black, and brings me back to my desktop with the same "hl2.exe has stopped working" error message. So (i think) since source sdk base 2006 keeps crashing, when I launch the hidden, it just crashes that too since it doesn't work.

I have tried verifying the integrity of the cache, and I have tried defragmenting the cache files. Neither of them work. I have uninstalled source sdk base 2006 and re-installed it countless times and nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP!

Hy, I can't get the game to start

Hy there, I just bought half life 2 to get this mod cause I saw it on a youtuber and it seems like so much fun :)

Problem is the game won't start...

I downloaded the first link that said for those who are starting from 0, then i installed it, but i didn't have hl 2 at the moment, I just had half-life 2 deathmatch, cause i figured it's the same engine and the same idea. After i saw that it didn't work i tried to uninstall it from steam... I CAN'T, i don't have any option for that, then i bought the hl 2 gift from a friend, and i have the original game.

Now can someone tell me how can i get into the game? i click start and the game does nothing.

EDIT :

I managed to uninstall the whole thing by deleting the files from sourcemod, the game wen't off my game list, then re-installed it...still nothing >.<

Hidden loading Screen Shows up Then HL2.exe has stopped working??

So I've installed it multiple times have tried all SDKs they work fine but still the game comes up to the loading screen and crashes any help? I've looked at the event viewer and it appears to be a faulting module client.dll How do i fix that if that's it?

I have no buttons on my menu, please help

I have tried a vast multitude of things in many ways. I have played Hidden before and had no problems but recently I have tried to play and it starts up perfectly but I don't get to do anything at the main menu. I get the pictures with loading in the bottom right hand corner of the screen (the menu picture, not the actual menu), then I hear the music for the menu, but I don't get any buttons to do anything on the left hand side of the screen. I still see loading the bottom right hand corner of the screen, I can hear the sound when I hover my mouse over where the buttons SHOULD be, but I do not see any buttons. Apparently I can interact with them too, but nothing pops up when I click those "buttons" that I can't see.

I downloaded the game with steam off, I updated it, and I have up to date SDK, SDK '06, SDK '07, and a Source game in my steam library. This is making me very sad ;_;7
Please help me because I have scoured the internet for days searching for this problem; a couple people have had it but no one says anything about it.

Adrenaline/Hidden's Grenade Blur Effect turns into a Black Screen

Hello.
I've been playing The Hidden for a while now with a few friends, but have discovered a problem with the game.
Whenever I get a blur effect from coming into contact with a grenade or after taking adrenaline, that effect turns into a total, blinding black screen.
Anyone encountered this before?
Any fixes?

Also, all friends who play on my server have the same problem.
Finally, this also happens when I'm on a world server as well.

i wouldn't post this if it was like any other post i have read, steam support has not answered my request after five weeks.
after looking over at least a hundred posts, i still run into the issue of hl2.exe crashing on startup. every thread i've read has been closed before an actual solution was posted. i really need help.
starts up, after the valve screen it crashes. event viewer gives me this:

i have tried solutions related to scenefilecashe.dll, moving steam back to my C:/ drive, reinstalling directx, updating drivers, and reinstaling steam.

Hidden is totally invisible?

Brand new to these forums and surfed everywhere but not found a solution to my problem, so I hope you can help me.

Recently solved an issue that I've been having with mouse lag (It'd been running smoothly for months, ping was fine but the game lagged majorly when I moved the mouse) by clearing out all Source SDK folders and reinstalling Source SDK Base and Source SDK 2006 + 2007. However, whilst trying to solve this beforehand I played around with the console, and I think I've done something to affect the visibility of the Hidden himself, or maybe the textures.

Sure, the Hidden is meant to be invisible, but we're meant to see a "heatwave" effect if he's moving around, and I can't see anything at all. When I become the Hidden, the view is completely clear, and not "wavy" like it's supposed to be.

It might just be a matter of entering a command but I've looked everywhere and I have no clue what it is (if there is one). If you need my laptop's specs for any reason then let me know. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Running the hidden

Is it possible to run the hidden without using steam? I have the CD version and I really dislike the steam app...
I searched for a thread like this but i haven't found anything.

My game only lags when I look around, not when I walk anywhere and I can't play.

I've tried all the fixes I've seen here and yet my game still lags terribly when I go to look up down left or right. I can walk anywhere without issue as long as I don't have to move my mouse at all. Does anybody know what the issue could be?

Hidden Crash to Desktop Upon Launch

Hey everyone, I have been playing Hidden for the past 2 months or so, and all of a sudden, starting on june 3 (my birthday, of all days XD), Hidden just crashed to desktop whenever I attempt to launch the game via steam. There are no error messages whatsoever, I see a flash of the HL2.exe in task manager, and a flash of the game itself opening up, but again, it is just a moment before it instantly closes itself.

I have SDK Source, SDK Source 2006, AND SDK source 2007 all working and verified. Yes, I have individually launched all of them and even went through some part of the video stress test in '06 and '07. The problem still persists. On top of this, I have tested the HL2 mod "No More Room in Hell", and it works perfectly fine.

I am running windows 7, 32 bit.
I know it isn't an OS problem ,because it has been running perfectly before this week.

I launched event viewer (noob at it, but I read this post HERE)

I cleared the log (ofc saved old stuff in case its one day required), and launched hidden several times, watching painfully as it kept insta-closing. The event logged showed no new activities under Windows Logs -> Application. (As seen HERE)

On top of this, I have tried the suggestion most common throughout this forum of giving access to fastprox.dll + renaming it, etc etc (as it says in the thread HERE).

Any and all help is much appreciated, however, please don't suggest reinstalling hidden/sdk source,'06,'07, for I have done each of those several times over, and am now at the point of frustration with this PC..

Everytime i start either Source Sdk 2006 or The Hidden Source beta 4b, they either load up and close, or crash to hl2.exe
i have reinstalled steam, and installed both the zip and exe versions of the hidden. I have validated the files, reinstalled video drivers and checked event logs which point to Source sdk base\hl2.exe crashing.

The only way i can get the game running partially is by using this as a shortcut
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220 -game "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\hidden"

and when it loads all i can do is create a server and walk around, impulse 101 gives me hl2 weapons most of which are missing sounds.

Every other source game i have works apart from this one.
half life 2
half life 2 deathmatch
etc

does anyone have any other ideas?

Missing Map Error

I've been having troubles playing the Hidden because sometimes when a server changes map or I join a server, it comes up with 'Missing Map'. I have entered cl_downloadfilter, sv_consistency, sv_allowdownload, cl_allowdownload, sv_allowupload, cl_allowupload into the console and nothing has changed. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me with this issue, as I would like to be able to play the Hidden with my friends without any annoyances.

Simple Question

I came across this while actually surfing the internet, and wanted to play it. I have a steam account that my friend gave me, and I read on how to install this game. Which brings me to my question, it says you need Half Life 2 and steam, I don't actually have HF2, but I have HF2: Lost Coast, and Deathmatch. is it still possible to play this, or would i have to get just HF2?

Hidden: Source Doesn't Show up in Library/Doesn't Install

I've been trying to install the Hidden: Source; but the game doesn't install. It's not in the sourcemods folder. This may be the fact that I don't own HL2, and I'm trying to do it on Counter Strike: Source. I also have installed both Source SDK 2006 and 2007. Can someone please help?
