Has anyone played this yet? It's supposed to be a cross between CS:S and BF1942. What's more: it's free. 600MB download in progress...

I've tried it a long time ago (more than a year ago), looked quite good for a free game but was a tad buggy 'n laggy. I thought it's promising stuff though, they just need to work on it a bit more, but i have no idea if this game has made any progress (i guess so). Try it and tell us how it feels.

when I played this it was a tad laggy (poor netcode) and lacked some of the optimisation that I would expect from modern games (except fear, where monolith just skipped that so that it couldn't run on old rigs). Seemed to me as if they'd just tried to pack as many "features" as possible into the game without thinking too hard about gameplay. Hope it's improved since then :)

I think I stole a glance at this one about a year ago.. however it didn't remain as 'free' at all, afaik: you have to pay for weaponry.
Get this: You pay with real money to rent (!) the guns for a certain amount of time. At least that's how I think it works. Foolish

Nah, it's a great game and it's completely free... well last I checked. I played this game quite a while ago, one time even until about 3 in the morning (as I did once with BF2142).

The perfect way to describe this game is "BF2142 on steroids". It's incredibly fast paced, it's very easy to die and it's very unrealistic. You get money for kills and leveling up, which is money you spend on renting (yes, renting for a certain amount of days) weapons better than the default ones, or with different capabilites. The vehicles are quite fun as well, but it's a completely different feel from BF mostly due to its speed.

I dunno, the graphics don't seem so good like BFs for example. Besides, I don't like the idea that people who pay for the game have advantages over the ones that don't.Take the fifth slot weapons: they can only be unlocked by paying members and are much more powerful than anything else.

I dunno, when I bought the G36 it seemed like I was a God amongst ants or something. Seriously, that gun kicked a lot of ass and I didn't mind that paying people had "better" ones. It all depends on the player.

Anyone know if they have balanced the weapons? Such as PSG1 and M24? or the pistols and mp5k?

On the one hand, the idea that the better guns are available only to the people who pay for them is slightly annoying.

On the other hand, you can comfort yourself knowing that there's fewer people whoring the better guns, and they had to pay for that privilege.

OH! Now i get it! my friend bought the cd of it and I thought it was totally unremarkable. I can't like a game that charges money for extra stuff you cant get in the free game.
