"Go to the fucking store, or I'll rape the cat!"

I laughed. Still I was hoping for more blood sucking, sun impaired people.

Ever so faintly amusing.
The kind of faintly amusing you get after squashing an ordinary snail and thinking "oo, burned!"

DIRE Music - I challenge anyone to listen to a CD all the way through. I own 3 but listen to none of them ever.

Having said that - THIS is freeking funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgIIjM24yA0

Sorta funny. Its torture having to listen to someone tap off beat when you're used to being able to adjust either one.

I disagree but the things I like about it are probably the things you don't so we'll just agree for you to be wrong and me to be kvlt :p I think they're a band completely beset by filler but certain songs (The Pagan Winter & T.Hunger included although its a bit long) helped pioneer what black metal is (before anyone responds with 'yeah... shit' I'll say "heard it" ;) ). Unlike Darkthrone, I think Burzum are completely horrendous. Also labelled pioneers I've yet to hear them do anything but a bad version of all the other old school black metal bands. If you want an example of shit black metal I think they're the best. I've not heard all their stuff but the song "War" sounds like a terrier being kicked to death in a prison cell and Varg is an ignoramus.

Immortal are a band to be checked out as they slay naysayers and rape both above bands into oblivion (fanboy alert :p). I don't think Immortal have done much without merit, especially compared to other bands of their time and genre. Get Damned in Black, At the Heart of Winter and Pure Holocaust and prepare to be converted... or not as the case may very well be. Its not for everyone.

I've been listening to Immortal all night. They have some really solid tracks.

BTW, on paving the way for black metal, I would say Bathory were much more important than dark throne. THey could put riff and rhythm together for a start :P

Carpathian Forest is still the best BM around ;) Hellcommander Nattefrost sodomizes virgins with fresh goat corpses, so there!

Seriuosly tho, the guy sat there in that interview and denied the most important tools that a musician has in a band. Percussion and keyboards.

That kind of talk is only acceptable in a classical music composer. Tsk.

Varg from Burzum said that he doesn't do metal anymore because, and I quote:

Guitars are a ****** ((edit: seems the filter zaps the N word, the point is made)) instrument

CF are alright too, but I can't get over immortal when it comes to picking a number 1. Theres a few good bands worth checking out though. Necrophobic - The Third Antichrist is a great album, their rest all seems subpar by comparisson though. You're more than right about bathory, they're huge. I mean DT pioneering in the rawest sense though. Bands like darkthrone (and the others I've mentioned though it disgusts me to admit it) were so 'out there' that they set the standard and made it OK to actually make music in that way.

The BM scene has been plagued by wankers and poseurs since its inception so its hard to be surprised what grim and kvlt folk say these days :D
