View Full Version : Updated Hidden theme

Some may have noticed, some may not (what, are you fecking blind!!?) that the Hidden forum theme has had a change. Comments and criticism are welcome and make sure you hit CTRL-F5 to get ALL new images, although you probably all had to swap over form the default Vbulletin theme anyways.

The multi-quote button seems a tad bit on the dark side when not turned on and I'd be tempted to go for a smaller top banner (something that'd fit within 1024)...

Looks good. Thank you.

Funny the 3 days i decide to switch back to default this one gets updated. I like it, but still wont use it because of why i switched back last time: I find it to be overall too dark. The buttons look awesome though, really good job. If you made a light grey version it would be my favorite.
Good use of the gmod images too, although like ging said its just a tad too big.

edit: oh my I just saw the new post/thread logos. Nvm :D ill be using this now. a light grey version would still be awesome though...

Very nice. More fitting, I think. Only problem for me is the massive difference between the darkness of the forum, and the brightness of the Wakefield vs 617 logo banner.

Shfancy. Dark is easy on the eyes.
The gradients of the old style were kind of nice, though.

i quite like it. the new post, quote and multi-quote buttons are great though you might want to flip the multi-quote images so ON is dim.

can the down arrows (http://forum.hidden-source.com/images/misc/menu_open.gif) folders (http://forum.hidden-source.com/images/misc/navbits_start.gif) at the top of the page and the icq/aim/msn/yahoo/etc icons be changed as well? ICQ could be a eye ball, aim could be a pinned corpse msn could be a 'stuck torso, yahoo could be... idk... yahoo is crap anyway. and skype could be a radio
the online/offline http://forum.hidden-source.com/images/hiddenbuttons/statusicon/user_online.gif/http://forum.hidden-source.com/images/hiddenbuttons/statusicon/user_offline.gif) buttons could hex_buttons

the banner does stand out a bit too much. can you have a background picture aligned to the left that stretches all the way over past the page (without causing a scrollbar for low resers) and then have a floating .gif or .png image aligned to the right that sits on top of the background one?

most browsers have proper support for partially transparent .pngs so it could look quite nice with the hidden logo aligned to the right floating on top of whatever was in its background

I like the new look, but I agree... it's too dark, in general. Black should be used only on the outside/background of each page.

For a moment, upon reading the thread, I wondered what Boxy was going on about. My scheme hadn't changed... I had to do it manually in the control panel.

And then switching back to default blinds you. hdr status

Oh wow. I wasn't using the default theme I had changed it to blue evidently.

I like it.

cant find out how to change back to the black one? ;) is it possible

5th January 2007, 16:51
The old custom one or the new custom one?

You can't get the old one, but the new one should be available via the drop down menu at the bottom of nearly any page.

I agree with Zabiela and starstriker1. The background should be black, but the content area should be a bit more on the grey side, maybe like this grey (http://lobbynetworks.net/), or even a bit darker.

But love the Icons and post, quote, multi buttons!

dynamic banner code:

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" background="http://www.server.com/image.jpg">
<td width="100%"></td>
<td ><img border="0" src="http://www.server.com/image.png" width="256" height="96" style="opacity: 0.85"></td>

wow the new black theme is rather sweet!

6th January 2007, 03:15
I like it alot, but the new icons for multi quote seems out of place.
Wicked sweet work though.

I'm not much of an artist (at all) but I think you need to have (white?) outlines. It looks a bit 'scruffed'. :D

7th January 2007, 22:38
Seems fine to me.
Just need to load all the new buttons so they're the same.

Though the multi-quote buttons should probably start lit-up like the rest of the buttons and then light up even more when selected.

Whoa... shit... that's sick (but none of fluffy's pics from Gmod?) :(

I know it's a bit late, but I like the new them very much!

I don't think it's too dark , at all, the font is white, so it's not that bad! ;)

The top-image is a lil bit too big, yeah! And I like the pics you used for it, was a nice idea!

But I really love the new style of the buttons for post, quote and the mulit-quote button! Really really nice! ;)

The only thing which doesn't fit are the icons (ICQ, etc, and smilies)...
(But I think better to have them instead of none ;) )

Thank you!
