I've been thinking about this for some time, and recent conversations with people have lead me to believe that the points that are awarded for using certain weapons needs to be updated.

Therefore, I'll open up a discussion about what they should be changed to; and if anyone has any thoughts/suggestions about what a certain weapon should be, they can comment on this thread.

Firstly, this is what it is currently:


Physics kills give 25 points per kill.
FN303, World, Grenade and Explosion kills give 10 points per kill.
Everything else is 5 points.

And here's the overall counters for all weapons as it is from the database (As of 26/08/2013):

Currently, I'm thinking making it along the lines of this:

25 Points: Physics (And all of the variations of physics), FN303 Bolt.
20 Points: Nothing
15 Points: Sonic (For servers that use the sonic mine plugin).
10 Points: Pistols, FN303
5 Points: Knife, shotgun, fn2000, p90, grenades

Killing the hidden will score you an extra 15 points.
Wounding the hidden, but not killing the hidden, will score you 5 points.

Deaths will take off 5 points, and Team Killing will take of 15 points.

I think grenades should give 5 points instead of 10, they do more damage than knifing and are easier and safer to use.

iirc you only get the fn303_bolt kill when you hit someone with 3hp or less with the bolt. If you kill with the DOT effect then it's reported as the weapon you're carrying... which isn't always the FN303?

As for making it so when an IRIS kills a Hidden they get 25 points, I don't think I'll change the points for some weapons. It doesn't seem fair to award that many points for using a shotgun, and the same amount to a weapon that is harder to score kills with:

Could it be possible to give a set amount of points for killing the Hidden and then an addition to that depending on the weapon used?
Ex. 15 + 10 for an FN200 kill, 15 + 20 for a FN303 kill, etc.


And I also vouch for Atlas' idea.

Which would mean that at worst it would count as a pistol kill, I'll move the fn303 one down to 10 points to match the pistols.

Upon comparing the highest ranked IRIS player (http://stats.bitswit.ch/iris/leaderboard) and the highest ranked Hidden player (http://stats.bitswit.ch/hidden/leaderboard), and looking at the score difference between the 2; that might not be a bad idea.

I might also add an 'assist' sort of thing, where if you deal damage to the hidden during the round, you'll get 5 points for helping.

Seems reasonable, I've lowered the score for grenades down to 5 points.

If you're tracking damage done (for assists, etc) then it shouldn't be hard to see a kill and check the immediately preceding damage log for the DOT effect. If it matches then just attribute that kill to the fn303 instead of the sonic alarm he's holding.

I'll look into that.

We'll trial out the point changes later on today, seeing as how I need to do a score rebuild to fix an issue that's cropped up with one of the stats.
