Oh hai! This is my first HS map in approximately 4 years. It was made over the course of a week. Build time at the moment is roughly 40 hours, but it is expected to increase once the bugs have been squashed and I can update the architecture.

The map was made with the intention of creating an experience similar to the classic Stalkyard, whilst still being drastically different.

Beta 4 released 19-10-2012!

So here's Beta 4! Been working on it for about a week and have made a few changes

New:
*- Box room now has an extra opening! This connects Box Room to Yard B, which should open up gameplay, making for more free-flowing, less-linear gameplay
*- Corridor leading 'round the eastern side of the map.*

Fixes:
*- lighting bugs
*- clipped brushes n' other minor tweaks
*- minor sound tweaks
*- minor camera moves

Go nuts! Tell me what you think. For the next version (which I hope will be the last), I'll be working on connecting the basement to another part of the level, and making the empty corridors, well, not empty!

Nice work, liked the lifts and the outside area and there's a few good spots for hidden to hide.

Did find a few things when going round the map, nothing urgent:

Maybe add some pillars/supports or other detail to some of the walls so they all don't seem so flat? Anyway, nice map :)

The outside areas look quite bare, I know. I first want to know if the gameplay is up to snuff before spending countless more hours detailing everything ;)

No fair. :( I've got about 50-60 hours into hdn_ravine, and it's taken me 6 months to get it. :D

Hope it fairs well on the server!

About the whole hours thing; I just graduated from High School. Taking an education in game design next year, but I'm having a sabbath so I can work and earn some money. Haven't found work yet though. Which means I have tonnes of free time ;)

Haven't had a chance to actually playtest it with more than 2 people, so I really don't know if that room needs to be changed. We'll see.

There is actually 80 physics objects to throw for the Hidden, not sure it needs more to be honest. Will look into it, though.

EDIT:

Alright, so we just had a beta testing session a few hours ago and some issues were discovered that have now been remedied.

B2 changelog:

- Added a light to the security room
- Fixed some major gamebreaking bugs with the elevators
- Fixed a couple of exploitable IRIS camp spots
- Some minor cosmetic changes

I gave it a test run I like that iris cant go into the vents smart move but for some reason when you jump on objects it throws you far you dont even have to jump on the objects just hit them and it pushes you?

Keep the good maps comin and get em on the servers its new maps that keeps the mod fresh and alive the more the better :)

Thanks for the comments everyone. And thanks to Darkhand as well, for putting it on your server.

Today has been a day of major revamping in terms of some gameplay elements of this map.

BETA 3 changelog

- Removed 2 elevators and replaced them with stairways

There are many reasons why I did this. The main reason was that the elevators were disturbing the gameplay of the map.

1: IRIS were forced to wait when they wanted to enter the basement.
2: 617 had only 1 way of escape when the elevators were not in the right place to his advantage.

The stairways I've added should improve the gameplay and make the map, in general, feel more complete and fun to play.


HOTFIXD

Found a bug which would get you stuck, so that has been fixed now. If you have previously downloaded Beta 3, you will need the new version.

played it with shark and conroy yesterday on yarrr :) the stairs definately are better than the elevators.

If anyone has any suggestions in regards to the gameplay, then you should probably tell me soon. I'm about to undergo the visual overhaul which means I'm redoing some of the architecture, adding more details in the textures and probably redoing the lighting to be more dramatic and frightening. After that, the map will be considered done, finito, etc.

The sudden resurgence of this mod has made me become interested in finishing up this map. If any of you are playing it, I'd love it if you could post irregularities or bugs you've found in this map here, and I'll get them fixed up.

I actually went ahead and did something proactive; I'm releasing a new version later today or during the weekend. Changes include slight balancing issues fixed, and a much more substantial update to the map layout, as you will see in due time. This should hopefully open up for more varied, less linear gameplay.
