HDN_DEATHTRAP

I started mapping again after a short break while I was in a lan-party with couple of my friends. We held a small mapping battle with one of my friends and after 4 hours a new map for hidden was ready: hdn_deathtrap. It is a small delerict style map and it works up to 5 or 6 players. It is way too small for larger group. Good little lan map. Don't expect anything special because it is made in 4 hours (and I have no intention to touch it again in hammer).

HDN_COLDBLOOD

When the lan-party was behind I started another map: Hdn_coldblood. It is a small garage in the mountains. It took 2 days to make this map and I am quite happy with it. Layout encourages marines to keep moving and hidden doesn't have a good safe spot where he can wait for his pray.

HDN_WATERPARK (beta at the moment)

Hdn_coldblood didn't stop my mapping fury and I started something even bigger: hdn_waterpark (I'd be happy to find a better name). The map is large and I will put more effort for this map. I try to reach the same quality that is found in offical hidden maps. There is still work to do but I think I might can actually reach my goal. It still needs location brushes, soundscape, some grafical tweaking and playtesting.

Thay do look promising. especially waterpark seems to be perfect for a pouncing Hidden.

I like the windows a lot, nice idea. It's indeed a very small map, but fun.

Even smaller map, maybe a bit too small. I was a bit disappointed that there was no more to explore :(

Waterpark:
People will get stuck easily on those showers. Keep them but let players clip through.

Wow! I could imagine that there is a waterpark which looks just like this one. Only downside is the huge open space, with only a few places for the Hidden to hide. Maybe add some holes in the ceiling and some concrete parts of it on the floor to give the Hidden a chance to hide. And the whole place is very bright, at least some darker corners would be appreciated.

All three maps are well made imo. It was fun experimenting in them, especially when some real people joined.

please please please.. for the love of god and stuff... NUMBER THEM: map_name_b# where # increments with each release. if someone puts these maps online and then you make changes, anyone connecting will get kicked.

SM Sucker thanks for deep analyze. I'll aswer to those proplems:

Coldblood
Roof: I don't want hidden to have a save spot in that map. He must keep moving so I am not going to let him go up there. Also it would require a lot of work to make the roof look good (surroundings) and to make roof work with current layout.
Some objects cannot be picked up: The tires are too heavy to for hidden to pick up. :/

Map is small but I tried to make a small but still good/balanced map. You don't allways have a full server and it is too easy for hidden to kill 3-4 players in large offical maps.

Also map is ready at the moment. It doesn't have soundscape or location brushes. I might add them later but they aren't so important in that map. I am not good at making interesting soundscapes like in offical maps so it is sometimes better to leave the map to be silent.

Deathttrap
Like I said. The map was made in 4 hours and I have no intention to continue with it. It is a small map for only couple of players. It is for small lan sessions, definetly not for full servers.

Waterpark
Showers: Good idea. I'll make them non solid.
Campers paradise 1: There are already marine clips so marines can't go there.
Campers paradise 2: I'll fix that.

I might make waterpark even bigger so that the action divides more around the map. At the moment it is centered more in the cafeteria area.

Deathtrap and coldblood are ready. So they won't have that proplem. Waterpark has _beta in its name and next released beta will have _beta2 and so on. But thanks for your concern.

I'm sorry i must've missed the part about how the hidden achieved super human strength due to the genetic experiments conducted on him...wich would absolutely deny him the possibility of picking up said tires...who aren't even that big compared to the hidden's own body size and weight mass...

The source engine's default weight for the tire is too much for the hidden to pick it up. I could have scaled the mass down but there are only like 4 tires that you can't pick up. It is not such a big proplem. :p

Use the car tires instead of the truck tires, or scale the mass down.

Beta2 version of waterpark is now ready.
It is now about 30% larger and some minor layout changes have been done in the older areas. It has custom soundscape and overall quality of the map is better.

This is the last beta version of the map and I'd like to hear some more feedback that doesn't have anything to do with tires, in this map they are throwable :D

Download link is in the first post. I will be hosting the map occasionally so come to my server to playtest this nice new map. The filesize of the map is ~12megs so it is a bit heavy to download from the server so pre-loading map will save some time.

Instead of tires I think you need floaties. Evil floaties that kill. Tires in a water park? Really. Floaties is the way to go. You can even have the floaties that go around the waist. :) Just give the tires a new skin, something outrageous =)

Whoa. Question/suggestion about tires. I wasn't see that coming! :D

Tires are fine. They look enought what they are supposed to present. I think that my maps might have a bit more important things than tires. I don't want to add custom skins, models etc. for the map because it is allready a large download (I think that custom soundscape is more important). I could try just change the color of tire in hammer. I'll add it to my personal to do -list.

I'd love to test out the map with full server so anyone who is willing to test it shoot me with a pm.
